A Feature Film Exploring America’s Richest

Waters

Ten years in the making, Hidden Rivers is Freshwaters Illustrated’s newest feature film that explores the rivers and streams of the Southern Appalachian region, North America’s most biologically rich waters. The film follows the work of conservation biologists and explorers throughout the region, and reveals both the beauty and vulnerability of these ecosystems.

Hidden Rivers is now available with any Freshwaters Illustrated Membership!

Dive In - Get Involved!

Hidden Rivers is a not-for-profit film created to inspire a deeper discussion about biodiversity and conservation needs in river ecosystems. While we share Hidden Rivers with more and more local communities, we are working to version the film for classrooms and other educational venues. You can help support our effort by purchasing a photo print, t-shirt, or guidebook below, making a donation, and keeping up to date through our mailing list. Your support will help us share the Hidden Rivers message with more communities in the coming years.

 Hidden Rivers Photo Gallery

The Hidden Rivers photo gallery (also touring with the film), shares an immersive perspective of the beauty and biodiversity of Southern Appalachian rivers, as seen through the eye of FI Photographer, David Herasimtschuk (2018 Wildlife Photographer of the Year). All photos can be ordered as high quality fine art prints, and all proceeds help the film reach new communities and classrooms throughout the Southeast and beyond.
